Overview

Website Change Tracker – Alert requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function. We believe in transparency — this page explains exactly why each permission is needed, how it's used, and what data it accesses.

The App requests a total of 2 permissions. No other permissions are requested or used.

Required Permissions

🌐
INTERNET
Required

Why we need it: The App must load web pages so you can visually select elements to monitor and so the background monitoring service can check for content changes.

How it's used:

  • When you add a URL to track, the App fetches that page to display it in the interactive WebView for element selection.
  • When background monitoring runs (via WorkManager), the App fetches the page again and compares the content using SHA-256 hashing.
  • All network requests are made directly to the URLs you explicitly add. The App does not contact any other servers.

What we don't do:

  • No data is sent to any server owned by the developer or any third party.
  • No analytics, telemetry, or tracking requests are made.
  • No personal information is transmitted.
🔔
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Required (Android 13+)

Why we need it: This permission allows the App to display local notifications when a change is detected on a monitored website.

How it's used:

  • When the background monitoring service detects a change (via SHA-256 hash comparison), it triggers a local Android notification.
  • Notifications include the name of the tracker that changed and are sent only when a real change is detected — never spam.
  • Notifications use a custom branded icon for a clean, professional look.

Your control:

  • You can deny this permission at any time in your device settings. The App will still monitor in the background, but you won't receive alerts.
  • You can also selectively disable notifications per-tracker in the App's settings.

Permissions We Do NOT Request

To be fully transparent, here are common permissions that the App does not request:

  • Location — No GPS, Wi-Fi, or network-based location is accessed.
  • Camera / Microphone — No audio or video recording.
  • Contacts / SMS / Call Log — No access to your personal data.
  • Storage / Files — No access to your files, photos, or media.
  • Phone — No phone state, IMEI, or device identifiers.
  • Bluetooth / Wi-Fi — No network scanning or device pairing.
  • Calendar / Clipboard — No access.
  • Biometric / Foreground Services — No biometric data or persistent foreground services.

Data Safety Summary

As declared on our Google Play Store listing:
